I have known of people that have maintained alveopora for a long while in captivity, although personally, never seen one more than 3-4 years old. I have seen significant growth though.

In order to keep them, as with any lagoonal species, you must not overskim the tank (or feed a higher proportion of particulate foods). If presented with the proper environment, I am sure it would survive, but not well in an sps dominated reef crest style tank.

I had my metallic green alveopora for quite some time. It showed visible growth, the polyps were always out, and excellent color. That is, until some moron large turbo snail knocked it into my long-tentacle anemone. I hate when that crap happens.

Peace,

Chip

Victor welcome aboard. I cant tell the Goniopora is a imposible coral, because i have two of them and its offsprings. I have them for around three and a half years and they are reproducing all the year, and looks beautiful. Too many people dont have the same success but we cant said is imposible when some ones are doing good for years on captivity and this is just my personal opinion. I have some past post on this discussion, so you can do a search and look what i do to keep this swetties on my tank. Here some pics of my green goniopora budding and my red goni. By the way where you come from, tu nombre me dice que eres Colombiano o Español. Espero tengas suerte con los Alveoporas son corales muy bonitos y dicen que son mas faciles que los Gonis :?. Hasta luego amigo y disfruta del forum, Bye Ralphyhp.

3 years and counting on my alveopora !! I've had to frag is once already and am going to have to frag it soon again ! I'll post some pics today from home of the one n my tank and the frag I gave a friend !! My has grown i'd say more than 150% and the frag I gave a friend i'd say has grown about 50% in only about 2 months !! He has about 8 watts per gallon and I have about 4.5w per gallon... I love it and my wife says she loves her "Flowers" ;)

It is exactly what I would like to have an alveopora like yours. Your tank seems to be a Berlin but do you have anything special in it or you put the alveopora in place and that's all?.

Si, soy español y la aficcion en España sube cada vez mas.
