This is the most recent picture I have. The tank started back in May 1999 and has had it share of problems. The tank is a 224g acrylic tank (72L x 30W x 24H). I'm currently running 4 x 400MH Ushio 10000K and 6 x 6' VHO Super Actinic. The tank is cooled by 3 window fan in the hood. I also have 2 Custom SeaLife for my night light. I'm using a Dolphin 3600 as the main circulation pump and a CSL T4 to drive the AquaC EV200 skimmer. Hoping to upgrade to a EuroReef. CA is being supply by Precision Marine CS-622. I have a pair of Bangaii that's breed every month.

Thanks Louey. My favorite is the montipora cap on the right. It's too bad I have to bust it up now. So I thought I take a picture of memory sake. :?

Monti's do get huge, but that's when you make your money, trading the frags for store credit.

You should post a picture in the General forum. Entitle the post "Picture of my 4 year old 224G SPS tank.

You would have had 20 ooohs, and ahhhhhs by now!

If you don't mind, I'm going to copy this over the the main forum for everyone to see. It truly deserves a wider audience; AWESOME tank there.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It's encouranging to hear from other reefers about your tank.

Louey, I don't want to say because I don't want to violate any rules, but if you read my Big Reef page, it'll say it all. I do trade with local reefers from time to time, but most don't have the lighting required to keep most acros, and the store here will give you pennies and sell a profit, which I understand, but from a reefer's stand point I also understand.

Len, thanks, I thought I share my tank with other reefers and didn't think I would get this kind of response. :D

fungia, yes my tank is a constant changing environment as I find new frags to add to the tank. Actually my tank has recently made another small change. The brown stylo is now in the prop tank. The Green stylo is in it's place. I have a unidentified florescent yellow (i'll post a picture of it) in the green stylo's old place and a A. Efflorences (I don't think it's a soli from the growth pattern) next to the other coral. Also added a new A. Speciosa and trying to clear the frags from the floor and get them into my prop system. I think next year most of the caps will be gone. Don't know. I have other colonies that found their way out to my prop system because of space. And the wife won't let me get a bigger tank.

kabob, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But thank you.

Ya, me... no just kidding. I have some LFS that I have visited and like it. There are others, but they typically don't have the selection that I'm looking for.

http://www.romperroo.com/FishCorner/loc ... stores.htm

Quick recap on the stores:

Upscales Salt, fresh, reptile, but have the best Display tank
Waves Strictly saltwater and have lots of corals and fish
Soutas Strictly saltwater and have the largest frag selection
Woody's Good resonable price store. It's out of his garage and great guy to talk to . Have mostly fish and some corals. A Hit and Miss at times. But his stuff is the cheapest in town.

I don't have much time to do shopping so these are only the stores I go to.

also, reefann,

Corals are all a mixture. I started buying locally and also on-line until summer 2000, when I went to Hawaii for 2 weeks and came home to a hot tank. Around 93 degrees at 2am. Well, lost just about 75% of the corals. All the fish lived. And thank God my Blue Tort survived. Of all the corals, that was the one I preyed would make it through and it did. :D

I used almost every mail order there was, just to try them all out. And many corals are through trades with other reefers and hobbyist. I don't buy much corals now, but do when a rare piece comes through.

yeah i thought that might be that stylo

i had a bit of a mishap  my tank went well into the 90s and pretty much fried it all.

what a freakin' mess.

i have a cuople pieces left that are in sad shape but hopefully will recover.
right now i got some cement curing in some fresh water inside the main tank (building a somewhat elaborate internal overflow) and the livestock is in a tub in the garage.

i think i will be a bit more careful of the heat this time. i'm thinkin i may make a minifridge chiller to cart in on those hot days.

oh man, I feel your pain. Let me know if I can help. I do have 6 prop tanks out in the garage that can help house your frags. Just let me know ahead of time so I can clear a spot for you. I hate to see you loose your livestock. Invitation is open for you. :)
