We have a VERY large trading group that is statewide and a little beyond. We are currently at over 110 members. If you wish to sign up (its listserv/email only and no dues) send an email to [email protected] or go to groups.yahoo.com and sign up for ncfrag. We have 4-6 meetings per year all across the state.
As for LFSs in Raleigh (I am in Raleigh) there are a couple, one of any size ...fishworld on capital blvd. There is also Fish pros on Hillsborough St, and Pet Paradise up on Leesville. Reefscience (the prime of the bunch by far) is run by Chad, he has a business in south Raleigh (its web mostly, but he allows visitors). Thats about it for close stores though.
If you are getting into things and want to start (the proper way!) with frags, let us know on the list, we have lots of people willing to trade or work out deals.
Hi,
A new reef store will be opening in Raleigh. Its called Aqua Escape. Not open yet but hopefully in a week or so. It is located just off Capitol Blvd. on peace street beside Jersey Mikes Subs.
The owners are Jeyan and Arjang of the former "Aquarium shop" in Greensboro, NC. They have been in the reef LFS business for ten years now.
The new store is big with lots of nice display tanks ( a 400 gallon 4 way view tank and a large acrylic tank being built now by ATM of Las Vegas ). This store is 95% reef with a few African Cichlids and a few other freshwater fish.

Glad to see an active reef community. I am going to be very active. I have lots of good sources for livestock (I just closed my online reef business, Coral Reef Productions), so I can still get stuff cheap (wholesale). I am williing to order for anyone who needs stuff, they will just need to come pick it up at my house (south durham). Cant wait to meet everyone and check out those stores.
