I have 4 MaxiJet 600's on my wavemaker (been going for only about 2 weeks) and they still chatter a bit at startup, although the noise does seem to be going away. Maybe different (less powerful?) models are quieter, but these are fairly loud.

do not glue the impellar wheel to the shaft. that is a clutch. it allows for the momentum of the impeller to keep it spinnig freely. and unload the impeller. (take less energy to turn it....

if you glue it, it will either sieze or will not spin freely.... more racket....

i would say replace them. but i know how much that is...

be sure to use the many experienced reefers of this board.

I got so tired of powerheads i invested in two tunze turbelles... i will never go back. as a matter of fact i left my maxijet in the tank because it has so much coraline i would hate to kill it all :D

hey clown,

sometimes more money dose not mean BETTER. the cheap ones could be just as good as the others. maybe you should go get the cheap ones (RIO, MARINE LAND) try them once, if they don't work clean them up with fresh h2o and take them back. at least you would know weather or not they would work for you.

good luck,
