Ok after a phone call at work about smoke and a burning smell from the fish tank I came home to find this
this is only 6 months old and not acting as a switch onely the relay that sends the signal from the computer into the walls. I will repete that nothing was plugged into this!!!
I feer that if I would have had something plugged into it it would have started a fire from the continuios power draw that would have continued to feed the short.
In all likely hood this one was probably defective and there is no reason to stop using your X-10 but I will ask you check that all your plugs are tight and that they are mounted in such a way that if they should arc and flame they will not be against anything that is imeadiatly combustable.
