i was lookin at my emerald crabs and saw that one of them is missing their claws. no idea how he misplaced those  will he regenerate his claws back when he molts like some shrimp do, or is he pretty much useless now for eating my bubble algea?

Did he lose them in the last molt? Might grow them back for the next molt. Hope he can eat until then :(

Yes, the claw will grow back (assuming no nutrition deficiencies). When we're shipping crawdads we often go ahead and pinch 'em to avoid them killing each other off. Also, IIRC, the folks in Florida who sell snow crab claws simply catch the crabs, pinch the claws, and throw 'em back for the next harvest.

I thought the crabs in Alaska were king crabs. The ones I'm talking about are a lovely porcelain pinkish color with black tips on the claws.

You mean stone crabs, the little squat ones with the big thick claws that are tipped in black?

The stone crab fishermen in Florida catch the stone crab and take only one claw so he can feed himself, that is the law here in Fl. take care, Terry
