Well my bulkheads are here, so I will install those. I have to finish up my stand, work on my DIY rotating return, finish the flooring where the tank will sit, design the canopy, cut wood for the canopy, order hardware for the canopy. Hmm I better stop I dont know how much of that I'll get done but I am going to try! On top of all that help my wife take pictures at her cousins wedding!
I'm going to build a surface simming box for my protein skimmer to get rid of the skum on the surface of my sump.
After that, I think I'll do a 40 gallon water change, and give everything a good cleaning.
Scratch the water change - just got the results from the city water analysis - PO4 from the tap is .03ppm, and my DI cartridge has run out. I think I just found the cause for my algea problem.
Next weekend, I'll do the water change after my DI cartidge gets here.
The skimmer box ended up working great - no skum left on the surface of my sump.
I'm going to put my titan triggerfish in my reef tank for exactly one hour, and film the whole thing.
Seriously, I'm going to try and figure out what the hell is wrong with my reef tank. Everything is doing fantastically, and yet the two pieces I just added to the tank two days ago are croaking already for no reason I can fathom...
I tore my 37G FO completely down today. I cleaned the tank. I refilled with with saltwater. I went and bought some great new LR for the tank. It is now cycling. I also bought 100# of SD that i'll add later. I gonna try and create a real cool reef structure with an overhang or two. I thinking about getting some acrylic tube and try drilling and splicing two pieces together with it. I am also thinking about giving the rock some leggs so that none is wasted beneath the sandbed.
I need to put a couple more coats of stain on the hood I just built for the tank.
I'm gonna use last weekend because it was a horrible chore. Just pretend like I'm gonna do it this weekend...
Removed the entire sandbed from the 120g FOWLR (no smell at all interestingly enough, only nine months old tho). Cleaned tank until it sparkled. Almost as good as a new tank  We were both pretty stiff the next day.
Mounting my new stream pump in my 75 , install lamp clips for my actinic NO's and put them on a timer, spray the salt off the mangroves, prune the chaetomorpha in the sump, glue down a few frags and move a couple of corals.
After that I will likely watch the sandstorm for the next week while my tank adjusts to the Tunze and watch my harlequin cruise the tank.
I am going to clean my Aqua C Remora Pro and see if I can't get some skimmate out of that thing. My wife says leave it alone (cause that is what the instructions say) but it has been about 2 weeks since it collected a thing. I think the cup is too high. I just have to watch it as I have the cup draining to a jug which fills very fast if I set the cup to low.
Finally saw Nemo. Wow. so impressed! (did anyone notice the coraline algea on the dentist's tank?)
Went to a couple o' pet stores. Found out I can get a 72 bow RR tank for $179. Now I'm planning a new tank.
I also blew some of the sand off my LR in my 15. I tried to get a mantis (that I think ate my purple firefish) out this week. Went through 4 liter bottles of seltzer/club soda trying to get him out. I decided that since I was messing up the tank so well I might as well take ALL the pumps out and soak them for an hour. Which Idid. now there is alot of sand blown up on the rocks.
Tomorrow I may frag some ricordias, and maybe trade in some green shrooms.
And oh yeah, start to design a stand/canopy for my future 72. (anyone got a steam table handy, or do you feel like bending some oak (or maybe ash) for a guy?) If anyone has plans for a setup they'd like to share. . .
Prolly do a water change than head over to the LFS and and look at all the things that I want, but just can't get.
...One day in the near future though.
Clean the skimmer
Do a 55 gal water change
take out my close loop pump and redo the intake plumbing for it
get some macro algae from my buddy to start my refugium
go to the LFS and see what they are killing this week
pluck out some more bryopsis out of my tank
take out my Ca reactor ams re-glue some things to finally make it stop leaking
take my canopy down and scrape the entire tank (will take 4 hours min.)
In reality, this will happen over a period of weeks, but it would be nice if someone came over and did it all for me tomorrow
