I am going to buy a 47" hood for my 55 gallon tank 48"x12"x24".. The hood isa a metal halide/pc combo that iuncludes 2-150 watt HQI 10,000k UV shield with remote ballast, 2-55 watt power compact actinic bulbs, 2-36 watt power compact 10,000k bulbs, and two 4 inch fans. i want to keep some t. maximas and most corals.. is this sufficient lighting? too much heat?? (would i have to invest in a chiller?) thanks you in advance, i am very new to reef lighting and want to make the right desicions, i am still in highschool and all of my money pretty much is going to my aquarium right now.. so i want to make the right desicion for this is a pretty big investment for me..

Lighting sounds fine, as far as the heat I think its a wait and see thing. Need to run the lighting a bit to see if you need a chiller. I have 3 250's above a 300 with 2 165 watt attinic, and with 2 fans blowing in the canopy, an open stand with house airconditioning no need for a chiller. Just watch your temp closely. Best of luck...
