I am thinking about converting my 30g refugium into a FOWDC tank ala esmithii. I was planning on purchasing a few dead frags off esmithiii and then adding a juvenile great white shark, hoping that he won't grow too big. I was then planning on letting half of the water evaporate and replacing it with kalkwasser. Should I also add some copper solution to make sure that the corals stay good and dead?

Yeah, I would. Also, It would probably be good to have a harpoon nearby as well.

I'm sure ernie would appreciate the donation.

This shouldn't be a problem. 8O

Yep, they'll stay good and dead for sure!

So, I'm a little confused as to your end goal here...

Personally, I keep bonsai-sharks (tm) specifically to sell their fins to the asian shark fin soup market. I can harvest them about once every year or so, and then I let it grow back and repeat...
