About three days ago I purchased a flame angel. I was told they were reef safe in most cases. Well anyways today I walk in to observe the new little critter and he is picking at my round brain. I dont see any visible damage but he is picking a little. What do you guys suggest? Will this kill the coral? Thanks, Mike

I really don't know what to tell you, but if he's picking @ the actual coral his appetite will only get bigger. IME once they get a taste for corals it's over with. It is possible there may be some algae that he is grazing on, but maybe not. I guess you just have to decide if it's worth the chance.

I would take the fish back and trade it for something else. IMO it's
not worth taking a chance it will leave it alone.

My only problem is catching him is a 150 gal tank full of rock. I dont want to make a mess moving around rocks. Any ideas? he is still very skiddish.

I'm pretty sure that pygmy angels are notorious for picking on brain corals. Now that he has a taste for it he will most likely kill it. Does the fish pick at any other corals? I would choose which one, the angel or the brain, I'd rather have in the tank and remove the other ASAP.

I made the same mistake in buying a Flame Angel and putting it in my 75. It took me 3 weeks to catch it using The Fish Trap. Good Luck!

I would take the brain back and keep the Flame. They are so nice to look at.
