Hello all,
I just did a fw test on my 75gal tank. I would like to know if it is all right to use my wrought(sp?) iron stand. I really cannot afford a wooden one right now. Will i be ok with it? Does anyone else use one? Thanks

Assuming it was made to support a 75 gallon aquarium, then wrought iron stands are fine. I suggest giving it a good coat of rustoleum paint before putting it into service.

the problem I have with the metal stands is the wieght distribution.
What kind of floor is underneath the tank?
If ya have a basement and the tank is on a wooden floor I would be concerned.
All of the wieght from the tank will be applied to 4 square inches with a metal stand
With a wooden stand it can be distributed though out the base of the stand

Whew. As far as i see it, the floor does not seem hollow and is sturdy.

I don't have a pic because I don't have that tank any longer, but you can find electrical plate covers at any Home Depot type store. Since your tank is up and running, it's a moot point. I don't think you have anything to worry about anyway. I assume the tank is level?

This is a freshwater test run so i will empty the water before i put saltwater in it. I believe thetank is very close to level. There is a little more water on the left side of the tank but you must look close to notice this. Keep the advice and info coming!!

i have an iron stand under my 125. on a wooden floor. no problems yet. the tank did settle a little and it seems like it wobbles a bit but nothing to bad.
