Yes, I love them! They are extremely difficult to find in the trade.

I imagine they're pretty costly...they seem to be abundant of the coastal waters of Japan..at least any of the reading ive done, collected from Okinawa..How much does one usually go for?

These fish are common throughout the Central, Western, and Indo-Pacific. They are simply not collected for the aquarium trade. Can't quote cost because they almost never appear for sale. Bummer!

Gee, it is a shame no one collects them. What's the deal w/ fish from around Japan costing so much? Forgive the ig but, I gotta know!

Maybe supply and demand? Cost for divers to get them? This definitely a John question there :D

It is a shame that few enter the aquarium trade. There are several genera of tiny gobies that are gorgeous and never get larger than about 2". Only some are endemic to the Japanese Islands. These fish are found throughout the areas that collecting is done for the aquarium trade. There are probably many more species that are unknown or undescribed. As mentioned, there really isn't any trade in marine livestock coming out of Japan. I think the closest is Taiwan. But anyway there are at least a dozen very colorful Trimma gobies that could be collected in the Western and South Pacific. They are prolific in the wild and might make a good sustainable harvest for nano-tanks.

I have a Royal Gramma that does the upside-down thing on occasion. Generally he's backed into one of the caves peeking out. There seems to be a consistent pattern to which caves he does this in, while in the others he stays rightside-up. He flips over when he comes out to eat or moves to one of the "non upside-down" locations...
