Big Eyed Squirrelfish won't eat?

I just bought a 3 inch squirrelfish from the LFS. I thought they just ate shrimp and meaty foods but he won't touch the frozen mysids I give him.
He does however keep those big eyes on my blue damsel. Hmmm. Should I worry?

P.S. If anyone knows if red/purple algae on the bottom is bad? It spreads along the sand. Don't have much but seems to be spreading fast. :?

Try ghost shrimp from the LFS. That should get them started.
