I bought a new PH pinpoint monitor from a reputable online store that I have used in the past. What I got today was an obviously used setup.
There was no documentation with the unit on how to calibrate and the probe is covered with coraline algae and salt creep. :x :x

I have already e-mailed and tried to call the vendor. Until they respond though I do not wish to say their name.
I'm just PO right now and needed to vent. Now my kalk reactor is going to wait another f%@$@ week.

You ever just have one of those weeks

Syris, shouldn't you have ordered a pH Controller instead of the monitor? Or can you do without the controller and use the monitor? I ask because I got to get either one as soon as my Calcium Reactor gets here. Thanks.

hi.
It is hard to believe that they would do such a thing. I guess someone return it to them, and they resent it out without checking the condition to verify that the unit is like new. Either way, it is bad way to do business.

Rather to use a monitor or a controller is just a matter of preference. Some people were able to keep livestocks in excellent condition without either gadgets. Controller/solenoid is optional for calcium reactor.

Vendor got back to me and they are sending new pinpoint ph monitor to me. I had no reason to believe they would'nt. I just needed to scream on this board because I can't here (Im at work  )

Telo..,

I got a PH monitor because I just want to monitor the PH not controll it. I'm going to be putting on a Nilsen (kalkwasser) reactor not a Calcium (CO2) reactor. I just want to make sure the Nilsen reactor is not spiking my PH too high in which case I may use vinegar to counter.

hi.
Glad that everything seems to work out for you.

Much maturity and consideration was shown in the post about the issue with the vendor.

For those dying to know the vendor, it was Marine Depot. 8O :)
Their customer service was quick to respond plus they overnighted me a new ph monitor (which I should be arriving anytime according to tracking number). So there off the hook as far as I'm concerened :D
Turns out the Pinpoint PH monitor they originaly sent me was supposed to go back to Pinpoint for warranty repair. Just a mix up at shipping. as they say sh*t happens. I just hate when I'm on the recieving end though  :P
