I just placed a couple of large Feather Dusters in my tank. Do these walk around to find a place they like? They seem to keep falling off the rocks I put them on (or maybe they are jumping). Should I just leave them where they fall? Or how do I get them to stay where I want them?

You can find a place you like to put them and secure it in place by placing a few LR fragments next to it. Besure not to "squeeze" the tube as that will crush them. Better yet, you can bury their "tube" in the sand. They will anchor themselves better that way.

They do not walk, and I think you really need to read up on many many books to know more on what you want to keep in your tank. I would also suggest you research on what you see in the LFS before you buy it. The rule always are if you see them in LFS this time, most likely, you will see them again next time you visit there.

How long has your tank setup? What else is in the tank now?

I have read a couple different books, but unfortunately they don't address things like "Feather Dusters not staying put". They are too busy discussing the broader concepts.

Put your featherduster in such a place that it is sitting on the substrate, and prop the tube up on a rock. Then carefully anchor that in place, taking care not to crush any part of the creature. Also, you will want to leave PLENTY of room for your duster, as they grow and need room to expand as well. They can usually handle this themselves by making their tube longer, but I like to be as conscientious as I can to the creatures under my care.

Remember, be VERY CAREFUL that you don't crush any part of the creature. Their tube is pretty fragile in some parts, and you can kill the worm inside if you aren't careful in handling it.

HTH!!!

I disagree there.

The local store had 4 Royal Grammas..sold havent seen any in 3 months.

They didnt have any of the gobies for 2+ months, then bam! They have 3 yellow watchmans, 2 fire fish, and a lawnmower blenny. Hadnt seen one of those in there for 6 weeks.

And so on and so on.

The rule of thumb is more like "if you see it at the LFS, you can find it again...EVENTUALLY...and IF YOU GO IN THERE EVERY FEW DAYS."

and feed them lots.
they are big worms and need a lot of food.
target feeding phytoplankton with a turkey baster is
a good idea if you want them to live more than a couple months.
