Hi all,

It's been over a year since I last updated my website but after working on it little by little it has practically all new pics reflecting its current state and inhabitants.

Go here to check it out:

Tubs,
I have to ask how you got your pics to come out so nice. What camera are you using? I am dieing to learn how to take pics of my tank and have them come out so nice.

BallyPy,
I'm not a camera/photography expert by any means but I'll give it a shot.

I'm using a stock Nikon 950. It's getting old but still does the trick with the macros. There's a lot of little things that you can do to get clear macros but you gotta start with a digicam that's capable enough especially with macros. The nikon lines in particular can be as close as little than an inch allowing such great closeup shots. Next is to have the right kind of lighting and best is with white type of tank lighting. The bluer rendition of bulbs such as Radiums make it difficult to get shots that aren't grainy and dark. Tanks with white or mostly white type of lighting such as those from 10Ks or Sakis turn out best. You can get by this if you have a sophisticated pro camera with proper auxilliary lighting however but for the average Joe like me (and prolly you) I can't afford to have that kind equipment.

Other things you can do is to turn off all pumps, clean up the glass of any algae. Turning off all pumps and even fans is especially important if taking shots from the top. The other thing with digicams is that you can take lots of shots till you get what you want - that's the beauty of digicams is that you can get instant results at an almost free cost.

Also play around with your digicam settings such as aperture and speed if available on your particular camera. Again not all cameras are the same with macro capability so you gotta figure out the best settings and focal distance for macros for your camera.

I can go on so if you more questions just email me at tubs@attbi.com

Take Care,
John

Awesome!!!!

Where you getting your frags?

Dan,

Thanks. I get my frags from various farmers such as attaboy and the likes but mostly from my close group of reefer friends I have here in the Bay Area. We prolly have all identical stock LOL by now.
