this skimmer has flow rates on the output which in turn causes the water level to rise in cone and after 1 year of use the only way to get foam now is to turn the valves and have the water about a quater up the cone, the instructions dont mention anything about these valves anyone know the correct set up of this skimmer (all pump parts clean) also pumps suction doesnt sound as strong as it did (air hole clean) thanks for any info

Chester by the sound of it you have a blocked venturi in the pump. Strip and clean my friend, it will be as good as new. The valves stay in the fully open mode...

I had a flotor-multi and used it for about 1.5 yrs. What is your sump water level. When I had mine, I had the water level about 6-7" and the water valve fully open. I never had to adjust the water output valve as long as water level in the sump constant at 6-6.

I've run a Multi for about 18 months now. I had the same problem. What eventually happened is that after turning the pump off to clean etc, when power was put back on the pump did not draw in any air.

I put a small air pump feeding the venturi. You have to be careful how much air you pump into it or the air will escape from the pump intake. I now get a good foam from the skimmer.

You could try this and see what the result is. Ideally you shouldn't have to put an air pump on the skimmer but I had to.

I had the same problem with my TF. Eventually I was cleaning the venturi every other day to get the normal air/water mix. Then I got really p.o.'d and took the pump apart to find a major blockage of calcium. I reamed it out with a piece of coat hanger. Ever since I cleaned it properly and very thouroughly it runs beautifully. There should be no need for an extra air pump.
