If you were me, how many holes would you drill into a 37gal for sump and return?

I have (2) 1" pvc bulkheads and I think that'll be enough, but I only have 1 hole drilled in my 72bow and (1) in my 55gal.
I wish both had more.
but it is a 37, c'mon 30" long forchristsake.

what would you do?

I had one 1 1/4" BH in my 37 and ran RIO 1700 for a return pump. Never had a problem w/ flow. It really depends onwhat pump your returning water with. What kind of GPH are you looking at? If you wanted to be on the safe side, 2 would be plenty. It also might save you if something should ever plug one of the drains!

I'm planning on either a mag3 or mag5 on it.
I had a mag5 on it when it was my reef tank, bu the siphon overflow was too loud.
Now, I'm planing an octopus set-up and prob don't need all the flow.
I was thinking if i go with 2 holes drilled.

Next, can a mag5 be run inline, or does it need to be submersed?

not if your sump is glass.
the home depot hole saws will cut thru plastic and acrylic.
But you need a diamond impregnated hole saw for glass.

I can't wait to get mine, think I'll start looking for a reason to drill a tank.
