OK a little background, I don't post much, I mostly read., but I thought I would share this with you.

My Hippo tang has had Ich of and on for about a month. He(she) seems to get stressed easily anytime I do any changes to the tank. He was getting better (I've been feeding a variety of garlic soaked foods). I added 10# of LR I got from a guy selling his tank on Sat. Sunday morning when I looked at the tang one eye was swollen and white.

To make a long story short. Checked with LFS to see what I could do (several hours after I discovered this cause they weren't open yet). They said don't try to catch him it will only add to the stress level. If he's still eating (he was), just keep feeding him and he may recover on his own.

Today his eye is still a bit swollen, but it's clear. Looks like he will make a full recovery.

Sorry for the long post. There are more details of what I did if anyone is interested.

I am happy to report that my Hippo is back to his old self. There is still a small amount of swelling in his eye, but it is clear. I think he is going to make a full recovery.

No chemicals. No quarintine. Just a little TLC.

Sounds like you received good advice from your LFS. Some stores would have tried to sell you medicine, q-tank, etc. Rita
