I am using an olympus d230 Mid priced camera. I shoot at the highest res in a dark room with 250 MH AB 14000k bulbs on the tank.
I use Fireworks photo editor to resize and compress the file all of those files are less than 50k.
The colors are the colors in the tank. for more check out my site and go to the web pages link

Also as to issue of color. I have found how to increase the color of most coral.
As a diver I have seen colors that I have spent years trying to get in a reef tank. In a reef tank the colors almost never match the brillance of the same coral in the wild.
The reason is food. the reef is not the sterile place that our aquariums are. In just trying to keep our reefs alive we filter and skim, use carbons and resins until there is no FOOD. I only skim 1 day out of 4. I use a large sump full of Macro for filteration. And I feed the coral

Coral food
1oz DTs
1/8 tsp Marc Wiess black powder
1/8 tsp Marc Wiess Spectra Vital Powder
1/8 tsp high quality flake food
3 drops free iodine
mix in a beaker with 1 cup tank water
direct feed lightly over the coral

I have been using these product for years with great sucess. I know that there is great debate about the Marc Wiess Products. but I have tried many combinations of food and when I add them to the mix the color and health get better. soooo. while other debate their merits or dangers I sit in my den looking at my tank, thinking how proud I am of it and reading my email from people wanting to know why my tank looks so good.

Do what works for you. but if you are not getting the results of others do what works for them.

Nice looking tank Nathan, how big is it?

I feed a mix to my tank that seems to be popular lately, roughly based on a recipe on Bournemanns book. It goes something like this: blend up together and freeze and cut up into blocks:

fish, shrimp, squid, clams, anything from the seafood counter
golden pearls from Brine Shrimp Direct
Tahitian blend - frozen phytoplankton paste also from the above
decapsulated brine shrimp eggs
spirulina powder from health food store
nori
flake food
selco
and I had some astaxanthin powder so I added that too

Hey Dan, I think you stole the recipe to my Loaf! :D
I agree whole heartedly... You don't put THAT many mouths on an animal and expect it NOT to eat!

Hey guys, go to his website and check out ALL the stats!

That tank is sweet.

I agree that using certain products is controversial, I'm not completely sold on garlic to control/cure ich, for instance. But, if you've documented everything you're doing (it appears you are indeed diligent), then you will add to the body of information. Your sys is impressive, and we ALL want to know how you did it, so we appreciate you sharing.

Thanks seamaid

I think that we all need to add to the body of knowledge in this hobby. Since I cant spend my life traveling across the world to look at tanks and setups,,,I believe that every reef hobbiest needs to have a web site. By doing this we help each other. I believe this so strongly that I have created a site just to help reefers build and post a free site http://site4yourtank.tripod.com/ .

It has a step by step plan to build and post a site for free with Tripod.com hosting. You can use it to post pics, plans, DIY plans or whatever you think is the information you need to put out there.

P.S. Dan I tried the Loaf recipe,, It tastes better than my wifes meatloaf.
