Seriously, my tank has only been up 2 weeks. I want to do corals and fish. I was thinking shrimp and hermits as cleaners. Are the hermits a pest or something? Or just overplayed for the old timers?

Well girly-man, some of the bigger hermies like to eat averything.
Nothing wrong with them if you don't want any snails.
I've seen a couple take out smaller hermies also.

I would say they are neat creatures, but I don't trust most of them in my tank.
I stick with blue legged or lefty hermits.
and only about 1 per 10 gal.

I'm taking it LFS have a bad rep around here. You guys need to add one more letter to LFS to make it a four letter word.

I have 2 LFS in town that I know of. One of the type you love to hate and one you'd actually like.

Anyway, back to the hermies and snails. Snails look pretty boring to me. Are there any "pretty" snails. At the LFS, I've seen little bitty crabs. They have the cone shaped shells that taper to a sharp point. Are these little hermies or some other crab? How do you guys feel about "regular" crabs?

The pretty crabs that don't have "rock" shells (i.e. Sally Lightfoot, Arrow, Porcelain Anemone Crab, Boxing crab, Emarld crab, etc).

By the way, on a similiar note what is the difference between feeder shrimp and table shrimp? Are table shrimp the same as "regular crabs"?
