I went on vacation a week ago Friday...the night before I left I decided to clean the overflow siphon tube and when I was restarting it I managed to zap my IceCap ballast with water. It was 8:30 PM EST when I called MarineDepot and explained I was leaving for a 9 day vacation the next afternoon. I did not call in time to make their normal Fedex pickup. They were kind enough to drive a new ballast over to the Fedex location and have it overnighted to me...we got the ballast on Friday morning and left on schedule that afternoon. It would have been a miserable vacation if I had to leave town with no lights on the tank for 9 days!

They went out of their way to help me and I thought they deserved some good press for the effort!

Regards,

Bill

Well Jeff,

It looks as though you have seen the light and purchased a car from the Mother Land of autos. Very nice project car. That sunroof is going to slow you down a bit. What year RS is it. I am presently working on a blown 1994 3.6L 964. maybe our paths will cross oneday at the track.

Ditto for Marine Depot. I have purchased many items from them and never a problem. They are one of the few online stores I deal with.

I bought the car to build it into a PCA club race car and I am presently preparing it for D Stock class. It is a 1993 RS America.

Yes, I agree that the sunroof in this car sucks but there are very few RS americas available period especially with the sunroof delete option.

I like the RS for club racing because of the allowed weight for the class at 2760. If I would have bought a regular carrera I would have to weigh 3k.

Your project sounds very nice. I have a friend that has a Blown RS America and he loves it. Would not make too practicle of a Club racer because you would have to compete in the GT 1 class and it would be tough to be competitive there with out MUCH dollars and I don't have that much to spend.

However a blown street car would be a kick and I have thought about getting another one to play with later. My last car was a single turbo Toyota Supra with 624 horsepower to the rear wheels. It was also a very fun car but I could not compete with my friends who were all into club racing their P. cars. Got to have a Porsche! So I sold it to a guy in Washington state.

I would love to see pics of it by private mail when you get more done.

Jeff
