I used to have some of these guys that were bright yellow. Unfortunately they didn't make it when the tank crashed.

I have epizoanthids and I love 'em. One batch is more maroon colour than your lovely reds. Rest are green. I have one yellow hitchiker zoanthid polyp that has doubled in size in a month. My zoanthids are reproducing very well. I'm getting little pockets of them growing in 3 or 4 other spots in my aquarium. They were one of the first corals I acquired. They are still among my favorites.

Yeah, but there's a distinction to be made between these epi's and typical zooanthids. I may be wrong, but the ones pictured above are not photosynthetic?

I had these wonderful guys about 2 years ago before I lost them to a horrible power failure these guys are AWESOME grow well and are very tolerant of tank conditions. They are however nonphotosynthetic but voracious eaters of just about anything small enough to fit in their mouth.
I had really good success feeding them with the powdered coral food from IPSF (tropicorium near me sells it as well) they grow fairly fast... and they love to grow on gorgonian skeletons... currently I think the marinestore online has them in dallas/fw

Did you buy those local Mike and if not anyone know a source online for them? I have some of the common yellow kind in my nano but these woudl mix really well with those and all my zooanthids.

Got them a while ago from GARF free with the order of a cleanup crew. I think they have frags this week if you contact them.

The GARF site says that the reds are being aquacultured by villagers in the sea of cortez using nylon fishing rope as substrate. GARF is fragging them.

Thanks for the tip I may just check the marine center. I did find that www.seacrop.com just got some in so I may place an order from there this week if they last.

These are definitly photosynthetic yes? My yellow polyps will grab/consume small particles of food on occasion but seem to do fine for the most part without supplemental feeding.

These are definetly NOT photosynthetic. They must be fed. I feed mine easily with anything small enough to fit into their mouth, brine shrimp, homemade chopped seafood, and crushed flake food, as well as that coral food from IPSF/Tropicorium
