All,

First, like many things in nature there appear to be no two ricordea exactly alike and can vary dramatically in size, color, etc. Let's limit the consideration for now to single, unmounted polyps ranging from 1" to 4" inches in size (small to large). We should prolly consider propagated and wild caught but not sure exactly how to track that.

How much would you pay for a single, unmounted:

1) greens
2) oranges
3) purples
4) blues
5) reds
6) rainbow or multicolor morphs

I've observed prices around: $5 greens, $15-$25 oranges, $50 blue and $150 reds.

Thanks!

PS Anything else that should be considered when pricing a ricordea polyp?

first with the collection of any thing but single loose polyps from florida waters now illegal ,the demand / supply ratio of r.florida is such that they command a higher price. The rarer colors of r.florida being "pure orange",then "pure blue",then "florecent pure green",with the eye apealing mixtures and combinations of those basics .,including ever rarer r.florida in the "true black",or "true pink",also some hot varites of "true yellow". ...prices are realy varied and are on a if you want it and see it priced at what youd like to buy it at point...generaly 25> for true orange..20~15 for true blue,20~15 for true florecent green.with the black and pink so rare as to demand a higher asking price. ....I feel that except for the rarer collors of r.yuma they are generaly less expensive because collecting techniqes are not so restricted,,from what ive seen 15 to 20 polyps on a rock from between 30~50 dollars at local lfs in your typical green collors and white zoo expelled states.again the rarer of these r.yumas in a supply/demand senario commanding higher than usual prices 15>.some of the rarer yumas are uhh red, pink, orange ,yellow and ?..........I personaly am currently fond of my blues and am looking at some" pure purples "that are astounding....this is my amerature two cents and feel free to critiqe i dont hold grudges.and this was ment to help.

It varies tremendously.

Many of the rare R. Yuma varieties are actually the most expensive- with bright orange and purple, bright red or pink, and other bright fluorescent colors commanding the largest pricetags.

I have ordered WHOLESALE Ricordea Yuma Supers that cost us $50-$75 per polyp. I have also seen gorgeous fluorescent colors that came in relatively cheap, so it is a very difficult thing to pin down. I have seen online prices up to $200 per polyp for the rarest R. Yumas, which is borderline insanity. Of course, I have paid very high prices for some of my own personal collection- so I understand the willingness to pay if you want one of the rare ones- much like a rare baseball card or something.

Super Ricordea Yuma is sort of like Rose Bubble-tip Anemones, the best colors are pricey and harder to find. The reason many online retailers charge so much for the polyps is that they are paying very high prices for the rare varieties, knowing that there are passionate Ricordea collectors that will gladly pay the price for the sweetest colors.

Usually the R. Floridas in greens and blues go for around $10-$20 per polyp, the neon greens being more expensive. The orange R. Floridas go for a bit more.

R. Yumas run from $5 to $125 per polyp- depending on coloration and size.

I personally love the little things, for some reason they have always captivated me.
