i have an elegance coral which i placed in my tank several weeks ago, it seemed to be doing fine, brightly colored, etc. a few days ago it "sucked" itself into its skeleton, and hasnt come out since. it is so deep into the shell that it appears it is not there. also today it had a bunch of noticable slime all around it. i have repeatedly checked my water conditions and everything is fine. all other corals seem to be doing well. has anyone seen anything like this before? what could cause it? i havent lost anything in my tank yet and dont want to, any ideas would be great help

thanks, maybe ill try some antibiotics in the tank to see if it helps. do you think i could have any adverse affects on any of the other inhabitants by doing this?

camp, I would not risk treating the entire tank with antibiotics. I am not sure what you keep in your tank but it would be better to set up a bucket or hospital tank and add the antibiotic and place the coral alone in the tank/bucket. Just add a heater, water circulation(either powerhead or air bubbles) and do water changes using water from your main tank. Initially get the water out of your main tank as well and the coral will need no acclimating.
