If you had to choose which one of these skimmers would you use? Euroreef ES5-2 or CS6-1?? I heard lots of good stuff about both these skimmers and might be purchasing one soon....

I have a cs6-1 which I bought used from a fellow reefer here on the board. I LOVE IT!! If I were to buy it new, I would consider buying the biggest one that I have room for to fit under my stand and also my wallet. This way when I upgrade to a bigger tank (which we all do b/c it's an addiction  ), I won't have to upgrade the skimmer.

Between the two you've proposed, I'd go with the cs6-1. Size wise, it's not too much of a difference.

JMO and HTH, :D

I wouldn't buy either.....move up to the CS6-2 with the bigger pump. You've gone this far you might as well go one step further.

BTW, what size tank are you planning to running this on?

thats the problem about my sump, its a tidepool sump with very small clearence space for a big skimmer, thats why i wanted to get the smallest of the euroreefs, im only running a 55gal so any of these 2 would blow the waste out of the tank, just deciding which one to go for at the moment...

I have a CS6-1 in a 10 gal sump w/ a 20 gal display tank, I was going to get the 5-2 but I was able to fit the 6-1 in my sump it is crowded but I am glad I did it....I was thinking about the 6-2 for the larger pump, but there was not enough room....I always thought I had clear water, but my water now is CRYSTAL clear...it made a big difference, I had HOB Remora with a Maxijett1200, than I added a HOB overflow, and sump, and now its MUCH improved

Oimate.....I would replace your sump with the largest Rubbermaid tub you can get in your stand...thats all you really need...a place for your water to go from your overflow, and a place to put your heater{s}, and your return pump, and a skimmer
