Here's a quick snapshot of me feeding one of my golden dwarf morays (gymnothorax melatremus)... sorry about the poor pic quality since i had to shoot with one hand and feed with the other. :)

Nice eel. I used to have a snowflake eel. I got it because at the pet store it seemed to be eating fine when it bit off the head of a blue velvet damsel in front of us. Oh, the pet store people got a little mad and was happy to sell it to me after it had eaten almost all of the fish in it's tank. I had to get rid of it two days after I bought it because it was beating up my other fish, which is a very aggresive 4inch sebae clown. That's a great pic. again.

Interesting. Usually snowflakes are among the more mild-mannered of the eels. Although I did see a 3foot+ specimen go after a 4ft+ tesselata eel when they were put in the same tank.

I believe Marine Center is selling them for $150 per piece. NKT got a mated pair is pure luck, I think..........

they gat 20 to 30 inches in length I got my snowflake at my LFS in Cincinnati for only 24 dollars. Of course it was only 10 to 12 inches but it was still cheap.

G. melatremus are unlike most moray eels. The longest I've ever seen is no more then 14". I used to have a 12". The last time I browsed fishbase I believe I read 14". I believe this is one of the few moray that is small enough to be categorized 99% reef safe.

Nice picture. Especially nice considering it was taken one-handed! I also feed my corals using chop-sticks. Any way you could snap some video of the thing eating? Many newer digital cameras have video capture.
