That's a back handed compliment if I've ever seen one.

Instead of jumping into the trap, I'll simply say that I make sure I have an ecosystem that can support the life I place in it before I purchase the wild life.

I've had another gorgonian in the tank for over 8 months without a problem, in fact it's doing very well.

No it was a compliment.

I have a low light unskimmed tank that I was thinking about adding aposymbiotic gorgonian so I asked the question.... but you seem to be to busy thinking everything is a trap.

When you are confident there is no conspiracy here, feel free to answer the question if you like.

thanks.

uh, i was going to ask how long you've had the sebae anemone, because it looks nice and healthy, and you may be doing an excellent job with it- but i'll withdraw the question and the comment....

I hope your being sarcastic vitz, that sebae looks nice and all but it's lacking its zoo, it should be a brown color with purple tips.

Razor, if you just acquired it, it should start turning brown in a couple of weeks, if all is good, if it doesn't, it will die, good luck.

Sorry for snapping, I've developed a sensitivity to aloof reef keepers who feel everyone else must be doing everything wrong except for them.

To answer your questions:

The gorgonians in my tank eat the frozen food I put in. The pieces become small enough after defrosting and mixing that they are able to grab them with their follicles and ingest them.

As far as the anemone, he has been in the tank for a couple weeks now and after wandering for a few days has settled in and seems happy. The gold stripe maroone quickly took to his new host, which was probably a tough choice instead of the colt coral he seemed to love. I have feed the anemone a prawn once a week as well as the remnants of food that land near him. So far this has worked for the pink tip anemone I've had in the tank for 9 months so hopefully it will work for this one.

I've also noticed after you mentioned it, that the Sabae looks whiter in the picture then it really is. The actual color of the anemone is currently medium beige.

yea, mine change to brown in about 2 weeks from when I bought it, it's a very gradual change, it's kind of like when you have kids, people who see your kids once in a while will comment on how much they have grown since they last saw them but you don't see it due to you being with them every day.

keep feeding it those meaty foods, I bet it will turn completely brown in a couple more weeks, give or take. :D

no, i was actually complimenting him on the anemone-the pigment production is showing fairly well in the pic-though obviously just starting. this specimen is not as white as some i've seen!(the sarcasm was directed at his first reply  )

take another pic in about a week-you should be able to tell then, by comparison-if you've got a shot at keeping it long term.

good luck, and keep us posted. :)
good luck!
