I've got a problem with my Kent float valve. I've got a maxima RO/DI and I have the Kent float valve kit. I installed the floatvalve in my sump and hooked up the ro/di to it. The problem is that the float valve doesn't stop the water from entering the sump. It keeps going, and my sump over the course of a few days slowly fills with water. I know the checkvalve and solenoid are working because if I shut a ballvalve in the clean water like (like the float valve should) it stops all water flow, including waste, like it should. I don't understand why the float valve isn't creating enough pressure for the ro to shut off. Does anybody have any ideas on this, I've been working on it for a while and I'm dumbfounded. TIA.

ColdZero - Give Kent Marine a call they should help you out. Call (770)966-5200; Press 5 for tech support and talk to John.

By the way, the float valve has an adjustment knob on the side maybe changing the position of the adjustment knob will help.

ColdZero,

I was worried about that, so I attached a styrafom (sp) block to the bottom using plastic wire ties. This gives it the extra pressure just in case.

Its installed right side up, because when the sump level gets high enough it does close it off. I mean really high, a good 6 - 8" above the highest position of the float valve. I'm gonna give Kent a call and also try that styro thing. Thx for your help.

My float is not completely submerged befor the water shuts off. If yours is several inches under water then it is faulthy IMO.

I'm having the same problem. Replaced the valve in my client's tank TWICE and it still overfills. Glad it's not just me (whew!).

I've had my client shut off his water filter.

I'm going to email my Kent rep a link to this thread -- he'll know I'm not crazy

One reason why connecting a RO unit directly to a system can be problematic.

Anyway, it sounds like it is not sealing correctly. Check to see how the rubber fitting (I don't know the Kent valve, but it should be similar to other float valves) that closes the outlet is seated. It might not be in correctly, so that when it does close it does not do so fully.
