Howdy

Ok, i am running 3X250's on my 180 with 2 165VHO's. the heat im my living room is terrible. the tank stays at 81 degrees all the time, which is good, but the tank is near my return and its just adding to much heat to the house, also have another tank with 175 halide on it.

Question- I have alot of acros in this tanks. does anyone have any input on how they will do under 175's. I have seen some pics on here of some nice looking acros under 175's. I will consider not keeping acros anymore if that is my only option. I like the tanks but, since I went acro its begining to become work not fun anymore. so much extra to keep them.

Is there any way you could vent the fans (just assuming you have these) to the outside so the heat wouldn't be returned to the room?

I have soft and LPS only and I am curious exactly what extra "work" vs. fun do you have to do since you got SPS? Thanks

good idea sk, that is what I am doing to my 300. I am setting it up not to run a chiller, and vent the heat from the lights to the outside .....

PC & SK

Well, since I started keeping acros, ive increased my lighting which has made lots more heat in the house. Im doing more water top offs than before and not to mention the power bill has went from 100.00 a month to
206.00 a month. Adding more vetalation would only add more to the setup.

Dont get me wrong, I love the acros. thats why I am asking for opinions from people who have them under 175's.

Ive had the same animals for 6 years now. one branching hammer has grown to the size of a baskball from 3 branches under the VHO I had on the 180. in the VHO days for me, all was much more simple, but i do like the looks of MH.

I find it somewhat surprising that 3 250 watt bulbs would make that noticable difference in the temperature in your house. Is it a very small room? Have you considered removing the vhos- they make plenty of heat also.

Sorry if this is obvious, but make sure that when you note changes in electricity bills you didn't recently start using some other appliances, like air conditioners.
