I recently had a post concerning where to find a clam and I happened across one about a week ago and bought it. It's a 3.5" squamosa. I've got it in my 15 gal nano for now under 110 watts of PC. The tank is only 12'' deep so I'm assuming this is enough light. He's been doing fine as far as I can tell and I have him sitting on the sandbed. I did notice however one day that he was closed up tight and looked and saw pyramelliad(spelling?) snails on him, just a few small ones, so I picked them off and he opened right up. I noticed however, a couple of bleached out or rather almost bleached out spots on his mantle. One on the edge and one right by his incurrent syphon. I'm thinking these spots are from the snails?? Will these heal and is there anything I should know about this? His coloration started off as a brown with slightly purple mixed in, and now the rim of his mantle is turning to striped bronze/green. Didn't know they could change color. Will his color continue to change. Sorry for so many questions, I've read just about everything on clams on the boards and didn't find an answer. Don't have a picture, but I might be able to get one eventually. Thanks in advance.

You need to burp your clam before you return it to the water if you feel there is air trapped inside.
