Did you ever get your macros to take off? I just read this thread, and the first thing I'd try would be a 12 hr photoperiod (not 24/7, which I think you already changed) and more light. In the most basic terms, algae need very little to survive and grow...light, CO2, organic waste. So, if your nitrates are measurable, the algae should be happy. The only thing that I can see missing is light.

Another thought I had about the macros...some of them grow by depositing calcium carbonate. I don't know what your calcium levels are, but there's a (slight) possibility that this is the problem. But overall, it looks like the problem will right itself with the new DSB. Hope things are improving!

Yeah, things are about a thousand percent better now that I'm down the line some from these headaches. In fact, over the summer I moved the 75 into a 125 and am finally on my way through the other side of the mini-cycle that was caused by shifting the sandbed in the display tank. the refugium stayed the same, just moved it from the old stand to the new stand; I really think that helped with system stability. Everything's doing fantastic now that I've got a DSB in the 'fuge instead of the Miracle Mud.

Just put a school of 5 green chromis in the other day and they're going gangbusters. Aggravating the hell out of my tusk and the clowns, that's for sure. LOL.
