hi.
I never use paintball, so I don't know. But if you let me know what is the name of the "oil" in the CO2, so I can look it up for verification. Until there, I will just keep telling people not to worry when they get gas from welding supply.
If you are truely worry (most reefers have some kind of paraoid...IMO  ), just put a inline charcoal filter even if it is certified for medical use. Hey, you never know if they going to put some toxic gas in there so that when you use CO2 to kill cat/dog/mouse, they will died faster
Do a search on google on the reef newsgroup. I discribe my experience on this about 1 or 2 years ago. Basically, I was driving home usng the highway with the canister in the car... then all of a sudden, I head a loud pop sound, and then a hissing sound when all the CO2 comes out in about 10 sec. I have my window rolled down, so the CO2 did not get me, but it scared me bad enough that I almost lost controll of the car (going 80 mph on 55mph zone.. keep in mind that this is LA area, so it is fine  ).
The bottle turned nice and frosty, and there are snow all around it. The problem was due to tripping of the pressure relief valve from excessive pressure. This happened twice, since I have three calcium reactors in three difference places. I got smarter the second time, so it was not as dramatic as the first time.
CJD and Em, still remember the thread in RAMR??.
