After losing a Ricordea and two other mushrooms and now the beginning of a fourth, I'm convinced something is eating them. There's a pie shaped segment torn out of the newest victim. What eats these?? Bristleworms?? All other corals are fine, all the victims are close to each other. There are other shrooms on the same rock thriving. I have two fairly new cleaner shrimp, but I doubt these could be the culprits. Any advice, please!

 I AM!!!

If something, besides me, is eating them, it's probably happening at night. After all the lights are off, totally darken the room and come back after a while w/ a flashlight. I'll bet that you'll find the culprit.

Haven't heard of too many 'shroom eaters, maybe some type of nudibranch that looks like a 'shroom? Certain nudi's look like the coral that they eat (ex: the xenia eating nudi), so that could be an option. Could be a worm too, who knows untill you see the thing. Give it a shot!

a caribbean pygmy angel and two maroon clowns. Doubt they're doing it. It started a couple days after I added two mushroom colonies and an open brain from another person's tank. The shrooms had done fine in his tank, though. I've also had shrooms in my tank for months before now w/ no problems.

It could be flat worms.
They are round disc shaped and they do attack morphs.
Do a after dark inspection with a flash light and you will be able to see what could be the culprit. 8O

I inspected last night with a flashlight. All I could see were amphipods, and now a mushroom across the tank is half eaten...AARRGGHH.. Oh well, if they just eat mushrooms it won't be so bad. I might lose a few $30 rocks. I'm more worried about my open brains, bubble, and frogspawn. Should I isolate them in the refugium??? Whatever's eating them is probably there too but it might be worth a try.
