my stand for my 225 acrylic tank is bigger than my tank. the legs dont sit directly under the perimeter of the tank. how can i reinforce the stand so i dont have problems. i was thinking maybe adding some 2X4 's or 4X4's underneath. Suggestions.
Add a couple of 2x4's along where the tank sits will do the trick. You can even reinforce the joints with some aluminum brackets. But is not that necessary.
I may be overly cautious, but I wouldn't just screw the 2x4's on the inside face of the existing boards. I would make sure everything I put in was supported by vertical studs going to floor (or to the base of the stand, as long as the base rests directly on the floor).
Hi,
I saw on another board that your tank and stand are from Tenecor. I had a Tenecor 200 gallon tank and stand. They always build their stands a bit bigger than the tank, so if your stand is a Tenecor design, then it really doesn't need extra support. Although, if it makes you feel better, go ahead and add some extra supports along the side.
