I'm looking at the Euro-Reef Skimmer (CS6-2). I already have the Sen900. Does anyone know if this pump can be modified with the same impeller that is used in the Sedra pump that is sold with most Euro-Reef skimmers? Also, is the Euro-Reef (CS6-2) available without the pump?

Thanks

In general, euroreefs and their knockoffs come with the pump already. The modified impeller is sort of what truly separates the euroreef from it's knockoffs (southbay ASM etc...) but there are also construction materials differences as well. That being said, it's been reported that the skimmers actually still work well without the "special" impeller. Finally, arent' sens and sedras the same thing anyway?

I wasn't sure if they were the same or not. I've seen a few posts that say they are. I saw on marinedepot.com that you can buy the impeller assembly but you might need proof of purchase of the sedra pump in order to do so. Sounds like someone trying to make some extra money. I thought if I could use my existing sen, with the needle impeller, I could save a few bucks on the euro-reef skimmer.

That impeller assembly is way too much money.. these skimmers work just fine with the standard impeller. I'm actually using a sedra 9000 on an old standard venturi skimmer.. took the venturi off, used a "euroreef" impeller on the pump, and there you go.. a skimmer that works way better than it did as a venturi.
