Does anyone know about this product? The bottle claims that this completely does away with calcium reactors. I find this hard to beleive, but have to admit that I would love it if it worked just as well as a reactor. (I can't afford one!)

Any input?

hi.
Remind me of a satire of a "All-Purpose" fertilizer that is nothing but dirt in a vaccuum bag....

The "Liquid Reactor" is not as bad, but the idea is similar. I am sure you will be able to find people who swears that both are miracle products.

When I used this stuff I had to watch my alk. alot more. Alk. dropped after about a month of use so i had to buffer more. Samething with the Aragamilk by Carabsea. Then I started dripping Kalkwasser about 4 months ago after reading a post by Randy Holms Farley on Kalk. and spiking it with vineger. Since then I haven't had to. Just tested water last night and again everything was great. PH-8.3,DKH-10.8,CALCIUM-470. In the last 4-months I haven't had to adjust anything.

used it for a couple of days. So far so good...but I have noticed an outbreak of maroon algea all over my glass. I don't know if this is because of the reactor stuff but it's the only thing that I believe could be the cause.
Thanks for the input guys...

hi.
The additive has nothing to do with your algea. It is something else that you are doing, or something that you do no do, or a combination of both that caused it. Sorry for being so specific

I find this hard to believe also, as when I tried this product some time ago,the only real benefit I received was the fact that, when the fine particulate powder was added to the tank, it stuck to a small clump of cyano, causing it to roll into a ball, and after a few days of use, I had no cyano at all. It seemed the fine dust layer caused by this product covered the cyano in the tank,(not very much cyano)and after a time, (less than a week),it was completely cleared up. While I am not saying this product is a cure for film algaes and such, I will say that it seemed to work out this way in my own tank, and do not believe that it could be a contributing factor to an outbreak in yours. There was a thread sometime back about this product, with testing done, photos, etc...I don't know the specifics offhand though. Maybe a search could be done. If I do have another cyano problem in the future, I will begin using this product again and see if I obtain similiar results. Anyone have any similiar situations or ideas?

Joey French are you sure that maybe your alkalinity wasnt low sometimes when you have low Alk. you can get nusiance algae's. I am just trying to through out all the questions. Im not trying to attack you.

hi.
It is amusing that somebody have to go the length and did an experiment on this stuff to prove that it does not work. I am not trying to discredit Matt and others who are doing great service to everyone, but rather feel that there are so many misleading products in the additive industry AND it is still making money.

Hi,
Randy Schreiner-
The reason that I was using the product was not to boost alk,(as I had tested pretty regularly around that time period in my old tank). It was simply to try the product as it had just come out.I was hoping to use it to maintain levels for a few days until I could get some kalk.It didn't really do much except for the cyano thing. Again, I don't think it was any sort of cure for cyano, just that the physical properties of the fine powder in suspension had a clumping effect on the patches. I also noticed that it added a light dust coating to a red ball sponge and a blue sponge in my system, and then I dicontinued use. :) See ya, Joey
