Ive had a pistol shrimp and randalls goby paired up for a while now. I had the fish first and he often swam around or perched on a rock. But since I got the pistol shrimp the two have become homebodies! :? They rarely ever comes out of there burrow.

The shrimp I have now looks like a minature coral banded shrimp. I was told by LFS that there are other goby shrimp that do venture out more often. Maybe a Michales Pistol, or a tiger pistol. Is this true? or can anyone enlighten on any other choices?

Thanks

Hi deskjockey - I had a randal's gobie with a tiger pistol shrimp in a 15 gallon tank in my office. What a hoot! The pistol shrimp dug, dug and dug - we called him the bull dozer! The gobie was never more than 2 inches from the shrimp at all times - he hovered in the open above the den. they were always active and we always saw them.

In a 15 gallon tank - it was really a species tank. There were corals, and a few other inverts, but only that one fish/shrimp pair.

Try a tiger pistol shrimp -

Sorry, I don't have pictures - and I had break down the tank because it was in my office. The building owners would turn OFF the air at night and weekends and the temp fluctuations in the office went from 58 degrees to 92 degrees. That was just too much for a 15 gallon to compensate - even with a pro-won titanium heater and a micro-chiller.

I sold the two together as a pair - I am pretty sure that they were in the wilds together - I bought them as a pair. They were best buds.
I miss them, can you tell?
