What is the status of farm raised gigas clams?

I have been looking for a gigas clam for the past 2 years. I have heard of some spotty reports of people getting some in here and there, however have never actually been able to get one from any of the online dealers that I have seen. Does anyone out there know more than the dealers who keep telling me that they "might be getting some in next week".

Most (all) of the gigas clams were coming in from the farm in the Solomons. Gigas are pretty rare and don't come from all over the indo-pacific anymore.

Unfortunately, not much is shipping out from the Solomons anymore, so the "supply" is spotty. I heard from Dave at MACNA that there are still a lot of corals and clams at the Solomons farm sites just sitting there - waiting to be shipped out someday...sigh.

Clams direct had some gigas a few weeks ago. I am pretty sure they are sold out, but if he got some once....

Also, James, what is the deal in the solomons??? The aquacultured corals from there were some of the nicest stuff around. Is it a political issue?, CITES?, freight carriers?

From what I understand, the largest shipping station in the solomons was shut down because it was too dangerous to operate. A hand grenade was actually thrown into the station - I don't know why. Luckily it didn't go off! I would just call it "civil unrest" whatever that means.

Stuff still comes out of the Solomons from time to time but not like it used to when Coralfarms was up and running.

I'm after a list of Clam farms who would send T Maxima and T Crocea to Australia. Can anyone help. Buy the way, thanks James for your help on my propagation Q. Still have'nt heard from Dan jet.
