John f,
I bet your bill is running an ac 24/7. I just run my ac just for few days (and I mean only few days) it jumps 100 bux. I pay 14 to 25 cents per kilowatt. I bet that you don't pay near that. Lets see if we are getting off cheap. How much do you pay per kilowatt?

BTW, California is the most conservative state on power usage.

Wow, you guys really do pay alot. My cost/kwh runs 5-10 cents.

In the big picture though you guys do not have to run your a/c 24/7 like we do most of the year in Florida.
So you guys get off cheap with cooling/heating costs, and you can spend more on Reef tanks!

Now your real estate prices are another matter. You do not even want to see what kind of a house I can have in N. Central Fl for $300,000.

I just got my bil today from Edison and it was 287.00 with out using my AC at all.

I have a 180 reef with 1300wt of lighting.

I think the easiest way to help each other is how many kilowatts you actually use. I used 1426 this past month which put me over the 300% baseline.

How does this kilowatt usage compare to others with similar setups?? and of course the amount they pay.

good luck to all

I Live in the High Desert of Palmdale where it gets really HOT..It was 97 today...Will be in the 100's shortly.....Luckily, if I can call it that, it is a DRY HEAT..I don't use my A/C very much since my Swamp Cooler keeps my home around 74-75 deg..I pay around $150-170 bucks through Edison. I get a break with a A/C cycling device installed , Edison will give you a discount for the ability to cut your A/C off during peak demand. Saves me a bunch since I don't use it much anyway and I have a window A/C in my Den....I have a 180 gallon Reef w/chiller....This is and expensive hobby!..But I still Love it! 8)
