All I can say is, it'll take time... I remember my tankwas having a little problem with the diatom growing 'out of control' the first few months but after that, everytime settled down and it's great now.

I'm doing the same thing, just waiting. Anything you add will just prolong the maturing of the tank. As long as you have some sandbed stirrers, you should be fine. I am seeing more and more bristle worms everyday and that's a good thing. My snails are working overtime on the glass, but I still have to do a little work once a week. I figure by Christmas I will have the diatoms in hand. 8)

Sounds like you have a lot in that tank for only being set-up for seven weeks. It will just take time to get your green algea levels up that don't grow as rapid and don't allow the brown to grow. Cycling a tank is more than just your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels.

On a lighting note, how old are your light bulbs and what are you using? I believe that as a light bulb wears out the spectrum changes to a more algea growth specific spectrum. So, if your bulbs are over six months to a year old you might try replacing them. But, your tank is young and I just needs to cycle trough the algea bloom. Patience grasshopper....

I have 2 bristle star, 1 serpent, and some cedith snail. My light bulbs is as new as the tank( 2 x 250 DE + pc over 5 ft long tank).

I just can not wait, so i stock 1 or 2 coral each weekend. It just so exited to have something new in the tank.

Also i stoped dosing Kent coral vite, iodine and iron. just only strotium.

I know the feeling. I found a place that would sell me fish at wholesale prices and everytime I came home from that place, I would relize I had bought twice as many fish as I had planned. I'd put them in and overload my tank and have a big ammonia spike.

The art to a parfect tank is slow. The main thing is to have fun a learn something new. We all have our theory's, just lesten and learn.
