People will hate this but Oh well.

Break of 1 of his claws. 1 of the big ones. You can still have him and he will not catch your fish. He is catching them when they sleep btw. Mine has not re- molted his claw and that was a year ago.

Mine lost his claws when I caught him in a net and grew them halfway back at the next molt. I'd say this is a temporary solution.

Some one report these for animal cruelty..........

Breaking it's arm, flush down the toilet? Oh what the world is coming to?

I would sell them back to LFS while it still has monetary values and all limbs intact.

I doubt the CBS is killing them. He/she may be eating them after they die, but I really don't think you should be blaming the CBS. I have 4 of them in my tank (a mated pair of coral banded and a mated pair of gold banded) and I have 8 chromies and I have never had a problem.

However I have a large tank with plenty of room to hide and swim, but I really don't think the CBS would go after a small fish and kill it.

this makes me angry.
i can't believe some of the cruel things that people are capable of. :(

i have a 40g reef with 1 CBS, 1 blood shrimp, 2 cleaners, and 2 peps. I also have a maroon, 3 chromis, a scooter and lawnmower (for almost a year now). my CBS was the FIRST inhabitant of my tank. everyone else moved in later. i have NEVER seen him try to eat anyone - only "stalk" them when they get too close and try to act big and scary.

yes, they can be agressive but they certainly do not grab fish and eat them. my guess is that there is another problem lurking in the shadows of your tank...perhaps a mantis.

please do not hurt anymore shrimp because you feel they "deserve" it. it is cruel and unnecessary.

when i got him he was mising a claw and he molted very fast after i got him in my tank. the tank he came from still had his broken off claw in it when i got him he also molted every month untill his new claw was up to size about 3 times. but he took a short walk back to the lfs with all body parts there. for my $3.50 credit

I have CBS as well. They are in a 50 gal, never have they attacked anything in mine. They are scavengers,so they are picking up the pieces after the event.
Mine live with hermit crabs and snails and many other pods,I never have i seen them attack anything.
My 2 cents on this.

I thought the first few posts were in jest! We are a group who preserve and hopefully go out to the ignorant and prevent LFS selling non compatible species to novices, do everything in our power to provide an aquascape as close to nature as possible. To flush, rip off legs !?? what's next? marine feeder fish?

I have kept CBS with all matters of invert, fish etc, I accidently broke a leg off one but it grew back fully in 6 months. I have not noticed one casualty as a result of the CBS...look elsewhere and please don't revert to cruelty in any form.
