ive seen threads similar to this elseware, but none here.

the question is what is the most original/unique/different thing youve done in your aquarium setup?

I've turned my 150G tank into caulerpa forest. I've also removed most of my LR down to only about 50#. The tank is also skimmerless with 5" DSB.

I am letting one side of my tank grow into sort of a montipora grotto, rather than what seems to be the more common approach of trying for a little bit of everything, coral-wise. To me it looks more like the way coral occurs in nature.*

I do have some variety on the other side of the tank (the tank is viewable along both long sides and divides the living & dining rooms). The DR side has 2 lps and 2 medium acro colonies, and and island of GSP.

*not meant as a criticism of tanks with more variety, and I admit part of my motivation is that its easier this way. 8)

Made a surge tank. Seems like not too many people have them even though they're so easy, cheap, and good for the corals. Maybe it's the noise, or the sight of them.

heh, those who made one all claimed the noise is insignificant. Those like I, that have seen them in action can't believe living with the toilet flushing noise every 30 seconds.

The surge itself isn't all that bad on mine. It's the water rushing down the overflow that's the noisiest part. Sorry to diverge from your thread Beerbaron. :D

no problem :D i was thinking about a surge, but i'm also worried about the noise. i know i would be able to deal, its the whole roomate, girlfriend, guest problem :( . i think they(surge) give the most realistic water movement.

Thing I'd be most worried about with a surge is the constant, fluctuating pounding that the tank would endure. Wouldn't the seams eventually weaken? Or am I acting like a paranoid old woman?
