Hi,
I recently have purchased a 4inch sebae clownfish and a 2 inch percula clownfish for my 29 gallon FOWLR(soon to be a reef in a year or two). I want to liven up my aquarium so I was wondering if I could get an anenome. I was thinking along the lines of a condy anenome. One of my LFS' said that there will be competition for the ananeome if I get it. So should I get two? Do they even use condy anenomes? If they don't, great. Their only other tankmate is a domino damsel. I think i'll also get a curly cue anenome because I don't think there will be any competition for that. Thanks John

Well, you sound like your tank is still fairly new, so an anemone is probably not a very good idea. Anemones don't seem to do real well in new (less than 6 months to a year old) tanks.

Also, a key ingredient to anemone success is amount of lighting - which you didn't mention.

Finally, most clowns won't use condylactis anemones as hosts, but it does occasionally happen in captivity.

FWIW,
Kevin

Rover-LOL

I had a condy for my maroons, they irratated it so much it croaked, I also have some BTA's but they have yet to notice them. Owell. I would also say no since it sounds like your tank is pretty new.

I Think I am going to get anenomes (if I do) in about 4 to 5 months. Right now I'm going to upgrade my lights from 40 to about 90 watts. About the anenome I'm going to get I think I'll get a bubble or a condy. What would you recomend?

What kind of lights is producing your 40 watts? 90 watts over 29gal is still lacking. I would also do quite a bit of research aboout anemones before deciding. Anemones usually do better if fed eveyr now and then.
