Very cool. Since I know nothing about keeping an octopus, i went to this website and just wanted to share it with you, although I am sure you've already done all the reading you needed to

http://www.tonmo.com/cephcare/keepingcephs/keepingcephs.php

what i learned that threw me was that octopi have THREE HEARTS!!!! way cool!!!

also, according to this article, they like to "rearrange their furniture..."
funny.

Best of luck!!!

The one drawback, and the reason I'd say no if my kids asked for on is their lifespan - 6 months to 2 years. As a teacher of mine once said to me about keeping animals such as this - you're investing in a tragedy.

This is actually one of the reasons that I used to not name my fish. As long as the fish was unnamed, if it died, neither I nor my kids would cry as long...

I hope you'll keep us posted and tell what incredibly intelligent things your new pet does!!!!!

It's pretty big.

I'd say each arm is 8-10"
Body is 3" when not stretched.

Dean, you want to park yourself in from of the tank all day and try to catch it eating, be my guest. All I know is I put one in, and a few hours later, it was gone.

I'm trying to get some crabs. It'll be easier to catch it eating those.

Nice!!!

Don't they have intelligence of like 3 yr old.

In fact they are so smart, that they can live just normal with a leg or two missing...

I'm getting hungry! %^^
