I need to ask 1 question of you to say I am 99% positive on ID
If this creature has a set of claws it sends out the front to scrape food back to it, it is a bristleworm before it morphs into its common known look.
Not all bristleworms go through this stage and I don't know what causes this but it is safe.
I see them from time to time in my reef and asked the guys at Inland Aquatics what it was and took them a photo much like yours.
They showed me the same thing in a few of there tanks and told me the above info.
If you don't want bristleworms in your tank, trap it but I don't think they are bad at all.
I do try to remove them if I see one above about 2" long but others I leave alone.
I have seen this critter for about 3 weeks now. It is flourescent lime with two tentacles at the head. They dont look like claws though. I dont have a clue what it is.
Looks more like a nudibranch of the family Aeolidiidae. Try this link http://www.seaslugforum.net/aeolalde.htm for more info. Most eat cnidaria or hydroids and retain the nematocysts in the appendages on their back for protection. Hope this helps.
