I have had a Squamosa for a couple of months now and just a cople of weeks ago it started producing a lot of clear but very thick and tough jelly like mucus. I though it might not be happy that it was in the sand so I moved it over a couple of inches to where a gentally sloping rock meets the sand and now a week and a half later the jelly persists and seems to sttill being produced. Any Idea what is causing this. Ca levels are in the 400's and Alk is 4.0. Ay idea what is causing this?

Thanks
Jake

Sprung and Delbeek mention this in passing in "The Reef Aquarium Vol. I"...they say it is not a problem and may serve some protective function.

I would move the clam back to the sand, and keep an eye on it as the jelly-like stuff persists. If the clam seems healthy (good expansion of mantle, good coloration, etc...) I wouldn't worry about it.
