Later today, I'm thinking about attempting to propagate some of my star polyps, brown polyps, amd mushrooms. I've read just to cut the mat off of the star polyps and super glue it to another rock. Pretty much the same with the brown polyps too, but just cut them right at the base. What about the mushrooms though? Should I cut the stem, leave it where it is, and just glue the top somewhere else, or should I leave the stem and cut the top into more pieces? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

It's practically impossible to kill mushrooms so any cut you make will work. They do slime pretty bad so glue will not stick to them. The least frusterating way to prop shrooms is to put the cuttings into a Tupperware bowl with some crushed coral. Put the bowl in an area of the tank with low water flow so they won't blow away. In a few days the shrooms will attach to the CC, then superglue the CC to a rock. From there they should spread onto the rock.

Yup, you can cut the top of the mushroom into more pieces. I cut a large one like a pizza and turned it into 6 small ones.

when propagating shrooms leave part of the pedal disc attached to the rock. It will grow a new shroom.

take the shroom and slice it into 4 pieces with a sharp razor blade/ xacto knife.

try to cut exactly down the middle of the shroom so that each piece will retain part of the central mouth. I have had a 100 % sucess rate this way.

drop the pieces in a cup with some agronite or sand or crushed coral. wait 7-10 days for the shrooms to attach to the substrate. then glue the substrate to a new rock.

enter coral propagation page on your browser for a good site

If you want to avoid the glue altogether and put shrooms on a large rock, use veil material (wedding veil) and put the cuttings on the rock and cover with the veil. Allow the veil to stay on for a 2 - 3 weeks and carefully remove. The shrooms will have attached. This allows you to put different types of shrooms on the same large rock.
