Science Alliance = No one there?

I put an order through Science Alliance www.sciencealliance.com for:

LC7498-11 Sodium Hydroxide, 2N Solution, 1L

I have not received any confirmation on the order being shipped, when I email them at [email protected] (the email address the order form got mail from to me) it comes back undeliverable as [email protected]

When I try to call they never answer, I have left about 3-4 messages thus far.

Has anyone else ever ordered from this company? Does anyone know what possibly is going on?

Same thing for me, with no charge to my credit card. I'm wondering if they don't want to sell to individuals. But if so, I'd expect an email back.

This place got busted. It was on "Dateline" or some other such show. The owner was an anonymous author of several drug cookbooks and was pushing Science Alliance as a discreet supplier of chemicals. He had a criminal record for drugs and I think he's back in jail now.

Yup saw the same episode myself but was under the impression that it was not really closed just under closer scrutiny. If the phone rings and an answering machine picks up then they must still be around.

I dont believe he was thrown in jail for it. If I watched the same show you did they were interviewing him after the FBI raid and they were in his chemical warehouse talking to the investigative reporter about his book and his business.

I could be wrong because I was not really interested in the show.. It was just on and I was there and voila

But based on recent threads, my guess is that he wants to use it to kill aiptasia.

We get is from Alfa-Aesar chemical supply, but you have to be a business and establish an account.

If there is sufficient interest, I could look into re-bottling smaller quatities (a litre will last you forever) and reselling at little or no markup.

This is correct. The owners sister was also running the place and going to college for chemistry. Pretty sad when intelligence gets "wasted".

I'm surprised and disappointed to hear that Science Alliance was not on the up-and-up. They were one of my favorite suppliers, as they catered to individuals rather than businesses.

I got a lot of my reef tank chemicals from them, and I know many home-schooling parents who wanted to avoid exposing their kids to the substandard public school educational experience also got science education supplies from them.

If they really were supplying the drug trade as alleged, shame on them. (Although, I ALWAYS take the big news media's reports with a healthy grain of salt -- I know NBC News would love to have closed SA just for its association with the Home Schooling movement).

If the charges are true, it's too bad SA couldn't be satisfied with their legitimate biusiness base. To the extent that they sold legitimate chemicals to honest people, they will be missed.
