I know this is an ongoing topic, but I have searched a lot of old posts for the info and have come up empty handed. I am looking for online suppliers of MH equipment. A while back someone had a link for extremely cheap retro kits, the bulbs were junk, but evrything else was good.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I just went to the local electric supply company and asked for a mh ballast. I got a 250 advanced brand coil and capacitor for 50.oo. also they had a 4200k bulb for 12.oo i ran that for aboput 3 weeks until i got my 100k bulb the 4200k was exrtemly yellow but was ok with the suplematation of 2x110w actinic vho lighting. also the socket or ceramic mogul was 12.oo and then went to home depot for the plu wire and the wire used to go from mogul to ballast. this was a diy project that took about 20min and saved me about 200.00 dollars. there is actually a sight that details this process. the wiring is very simple and the people at the supply house should be able to walk you through it with no problem.

Thanks for the info. I have tossed around the idea of a complete DIY setup. I am still a little bit weary of it though??? Maybe it's just paranoia, but I am nervous about electrical problems/fires????

Fishfarmer - thanks, but the link is not working for me.

I just bought from www.1000Bulbs.Com. They were the cheapest I found for MH ballast. I just bought a F-Can 400w MH ballast for $45 plus shipping. If you do not know what a F-can is it is a sealed ballast just like a normal NO ballast with 4 wire comming out of it very easy to hookup.

Hellolights.com sells Iwasaki blubs one of the cheapest. So I added on for another 400w for my Reef with a store bought relector form under $150 complete.

DIY yourself a save a bunch for go get PFO which will be the next cheapest OEM inline.
